FlashBack - Burj Khalifa

I am ailing from a very bad FLU  for quite a few days.Lost almost 2.5 pounds, just being sick and feeling SICK. I hate being sick, coz for one it spoils all our plans , and then being bed ridden and doing nothing, but just waiting it out, is really boring. We are having a long holiday here...Why you ask? Well, the first being

1. UAE NATIONAL DAY (2 days )
2. DUBAI WON EXPO 2020 ( So the ruler declared a day off)

And these two hols, have the week-ends sandwiched between them , giving us a total of 4 days, it would have been wonderful, I probably would have been going out, dressing up and clicking pictures, but instead, I am home sick. But on the brighter side,I am glad I am sick on a holiday, coz being sick and not being able to do chores when schools and offices operate, can stress us out.So as I lie here, being taken care of,listening to some nice music,in the cool weather..I bring out some pics of last year, when my in-laws visited DUBAI.

I have for you some pics of Burj Khalifa - At The Top - TALLEST BUILDING IN THE WORLD
I don't wanna describe much, coz I want the pictures to do the talking.

Note:- I was a lot chunkier last year  (still am fat....my regular readers, you know I am bringing it down..don't you :D ..good ) , but the good thing in these pics is I have long hair. Also I have my in laws pics for yaaalll..check it out

My First Leibster Award

I was actually on the low, having a temperature and extremely tired, drooling from every hole on my face with sinus and stuff{Gross i know} when i was welcomed with a happy notification, from a fellow blogger SRIJAN BHARDWAJ blogging by the name Echoes Of My Whispers! who nominated me for the Leibster Award!Yaaaayyyy

Now lemme do the happy dance before I explain it.

Now for those who don't know what a Leibster Award is

And the rules after receiving the award to be followed are:-

Some places on web, state 11 facts and some n random facts,so i played it safe by putting 5 random facts about myself

Random Facts
  1. I am completely obsessed with gaming, I used to play video games for hours together in college(Heretic,Quake,Croc,Road Rash)
  2. My wardrobe consists 90% of black outfits.
  3. Black and white are my favorite colours( but not my world :P )
  4. I don't watch any TV serials.
  5. I have an obsession for shoes, and I am trying to collect as many as I can, much to the chagrin of my hubby. :P

Now on to the questions that have been passed on to me by Srijan Bhardwaj

1. Why did you start blogging?
I had keen interest in dressing up, wearing clothes, shoe, anything that meant to look good, though my forte is software engineering I am more passionate about fashion, and blogging was my vent to showcase it.

2. Your best habit!
I am good at pursuing{Read STUBBORN} something that I badly need, and not get negated by the failures.

3. What makes you unique from others?
I have a good memory of my past, and I am more of an emotional person,so I find myself empathizing a lot more than how others would do to the exact situation, call it a boon or a bane, i have experienced both.

4. Your favorite movies?
Cast-away, Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, In Pursuit Of Happyness, Terminator 2

5. Action or romance?
Both, and it depends on how the story goes, i used to be a romantic movie watcher as a child but grew up to watching action ones, because they seemed to have an emotional touch too, Like Tony Jaa movies, Jackie movies..etc

6. 3 deep buried secrets! ;)
Now why would I share my secrets out here, and If I did so, it can't be called a secret ,would it !! {haha}

7. The person you love the most?
I love my family,my husband, son, mom, brother, can't single out anybody, everybody make the different fingers of my palm of life.

8. Your idol?
I don't believe in idolizing, i admire each individual for their respective traits.

9. School or college?
College(During my post graduation)- Coz that's when I socialized more, I met some amazing friends, and I also got to study along with my lover(my hubby)

10. The most mischievous act you have done?
There are few from my childhood, but the most recent one(not so recent , but year 2007)Oh...it's silly and ridiculous when I think of it now, it was after marriage and I was frustrated over something with my hubby, and he just walked away from a conversation and left me fuming, and I wanted to burst out, and I found his Dell XPS laptop, he always used to stick the X in it's place, as it always kept falling off, and I just took it off again furiated, so that he takes trouble sticking it again( how silly i thought that would make him angry, and curb my ego of an undone speech) ....and when I told him what i had done after few days , he had a good laugh at my childishness..and So did I :P :P.
Now I am wondering ,the question should have been silliest acts, but anyways,I don't have any mischievous and interesting incident worth quoting.

11. What does this award means to you?
I love this award, well, this is my first award as a blogger and secondly , I see this award  as an incentive for giving upcoming bloggers a gentle push.Thank you Srijan for bestowing this award, I was just elated to receive it.Now that I had my share of Fame....I pass it on to my fellow bloggers.

Here's my list in no particular order

1.vaidehi ( A New Begining )

3.Preethi venugopal ( http://tulipsandme.blogspot.in/ )

4.Madhusudhan Mahawar ( http://www.meapoet.in/ )

6.Aditi - ( So Saree

8.Vimala Ramu ( http://www.vramu.in/ )

10.Anulekha and Arushika The Sister Act )

11.Aashish sahni - konnectingu (www.konnectingu.com)

And now my questions for you are :-
  1. What's the philosophy/motto you live by?
  2. Any pet peeves?
  3. Do you have any dream goals that are yet to be achieved?
  4. Do you believe in ghosts/UFO's/supernatural phenomenons?
  5. The most unforgettable incident in life.
  6. Any OCD?
  7. Your definition of "Happiness".
  8. Any secret celebrity crush? If so who?
  9. Any feat(small/big) you achieved in life, which you never thought was possible?
  10. Your daily inspiration?
  11. Share a funny incident from your life.
And this award is for all whom I nominated. Congrats, I chose you all for a reason and it wasn't a random act to just pass on the award, spread the love to those whom you think deserve it.

Pin Striped Skirt and Boots

WILTED PAIN

I cried in pain,

Everyday as tears flow in vain,

Why do mortals hurt deeper,

Are we weaker?

Should we just sit and weep,

Remembering how we fell the slope steep,

No , I restrain the temptations to sulk,

Not anymore, the devil could be the hulk,

But with the flowing waters, the stone erodes,

With the flowing emotions, the power to life I rode.

Yes i write poetry, I used to write a lot when I fell in love back at school with my then boyfriend[Now husband], and now seldom i pen poems, this is one of them :)
I was out for the movie "Hunger Games-Catching Fire", and boy I regretted my choice...I just wasted my time on it.
I transformed a skirt i have into a dress, belted it ans just wore a grey cardigan..TADAAAA!!!!! We have an outfit, you could try this with any of your long skirts.

White Tee - Almost Famous

Every week-end we have just been going to movies. But my hubby has a craze for movies and I like going out, combine the two and we have a movie outing. I love watching movies at home too(unless I am sick/lazy), but I love going out more { :D }
So this week it was Captain Phillips, and it was an awesome movie. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors ever since I watched his movie "Castaway", his performance was mind-blowing, that I always go for a movie,no matter what, if it has Tom Hanks.I liked the details and how; the concept being a simple one, of rescuing an abducted captain, was shot in such a grandeur and efficient manner, that I hardly noticed any flaw in the execution. The empathy for the Somalian people is also something that was dealt smart, here we feel sorry for the villains( actually there is no villain), it's just that certain people act irrational or not humane due to the circumstances.A subtle way of handling the good, the bad and THE REALITY. Must watch for movie goers.
The climate has been very nice, cloudy, cool, a perfect weather for just being laaaaaaaaaaazy .. :D
But that didn't deter me from stopping my work-outs , or doing my regular work, those are just wishes, (wish I had few more hands).
As for my outfit, this is what I wore, and today I have pics of every one of us, especially my little monkey.

Jean Jacket and Thor Movie Outing

The pics for the post are two weeks old, but I had the time to collect and post them, only now. Thor was  The movie ,and well,it was just the routine, watchable, maybe once, but not that exciting ,nothing new.So we just had our 3D glasses and watched through.Actually we had got tickets for a Tamil movie "arambham" , but we weren't allowed with our 5yr old son as it was 15+ rating, and we were disappointed, coz I am sure in India everybody would watch this movie with babies too.But I guess rules are rules, and what can we blame of the staff and the regulations of certain country laws, he was just doing his duty.So we had to change the tickets to THOR movie  and almost waited an hour for it.
We have a wonderful weather at the moment in Dubai, simply awesome,it's 22 degrees and chilly winds blowing, it's at it's best. Rain had been lashing out causing floods, but i am not new to floods living in Chennai and riding through floods many times to college,i can't fathom now of how I had rode to college back then, call it Risky, adventurous, and getting sucked in by a caving road at sporadic intervals(our eyes oblivion to the deceiving water). Well, it's just not me, but everybody in Chennai have to face this wrath during heavy rains. But thank god here we don't have so much rain, and all we gotta worry about is the inching traffic.

Woollen Pencil Skirt

Do we ever take something/someone for granted?Perhaps yes, perhaps No, but for certain , our parents do fall under that category. How often we feel frustrated over petty things, just because they haven't provided it to us, the first time we had asked for it in childhood. Tantrums are common at that age, but what about adulthood?
Do we take our friends/spouse/children for granted? This is a question that revolves around us, throughout our lives. I know how such attitude could lead to disputes, only because over time we start getting comfortable , getting the things without any question, that it's absence renders us into anger and frustration. Frustration is caused by disappointments, many instances in life we expect too much or too little from humans surrounding us.The latter makes us happy in surprise while the former sends us into sadness. It's always best to keep moving forward, with just expectations only from oneself, rest will happen over time, this attitude , though quoted easily than implemented, is something even I myself find " challenging".As humane we are made to be, as a person who listens to heart more, than logical reasoning , it becomes difficult, but once you let learn to calm down your self, whenever you have this disappointment, and temporarily focus on some other activity, you will soon learn to tackle being independent.
There are many benefits to having this attitude

  • You have lesser frustrating days [ Read expectation]
  • You find you are stronger than what you imagined yourself to be.
  • You will see , that you are the reason for your failure and not others.
  • People around you feel more comfortable and understanding.
  • Lesser quarrels
  • You learn to appreciate , what is at hand
There are many more benefits to this, and it's not to be listed but rather experienced. So why don't you practice being self-sufficient sooner(If you are already! then way to goooo!!!) the better.
To have a retrospective seldom on self -analysis, is a sure initiative to a positive living.

The balancing Act

I have been trying my hand at the "Ball Exercises ", may I say, it's not easy and fun as a normal ball would seem. I got it out of enthusiasm and imagining it to be a easy peasy workout, but alas! It's something that requires

  1. Balance
  2. Strength in your legs for holding on.
  3. Maintaining the posture with all body muscles
  4. Flexibility
I confess, i fell a couple of times , trying this one, and it's not funny, but it does amuse my son, who bursts out into a laughter. Hmm..But I triumphed on the novice workout category....soon I shall incorporate more acrobatically challenging routines( *Fingers crossed*)

I am still a body In Progress

So Instagram was down for 2 days...It was a total bummer, ever since i discovered blogging, and being an expat, the only regular social fun I have are the Instagram, facebook, blogging etc. Had I been in India ,I doubt whether I would have been into blogging at all. Coz the people I visit and vice-versa were more, and I would have hardly had the time to take photos,edit,rant/essay about stuff etc. None of my real friends blog, except for an acquaintance who is a genius journalist.
The climate is gradually changing , and I am loving it, the sun starts setting by 4.30 evening, and it's cool over here in Dubai. I had the mood today, to try and wear full black. Black and white happens to be my favorite colours. I have too many blacks...during my FAT phases ( haaah......the illusion of BLACK), thought I know white is a BIG no no when plump , somehow I wear it...because of it's sheer elegance. I have been working out regular and dieting ( read eating right and in proportions). And though the work is in "Progress" , I love the slow transformation. I am steadily getting there. I have already lost 10 pounds, and I look forward to losing more.
Certain blogs are a good read, they motivate me in many ways, and blogs that motivate us to stay fit are just my regular reads. You see I believe , just like the importance we give to dresses, the same should be given to our best ---Our rewarding bodies. It transforms us to a better individual. I can't emphasize how much of a great life change it is. Make it happen. Here are some pointers to get you started.

  1. Join Pinterest- lot's of motivational quotes and bodies, to ogle at.
  2. Read articles(rather blogs) of real people who sweat it out. (BikiniBodyMommy)
  3. Watch transformation videos on Youtube.
  4. Go through your past pictures, where you might have been perfect, but have sulken to an Indian image of plump,Tv watching couch potato.Housewives or working wives...come on you are meant to be sexy all time, you can be Hot like before.
  5. Collect some dance tunes, start slow, "Something is better than nothing"
  6. Initial stages are the hardest, and everybody gives up with 2 weeks or a month, but pursue, those ads that say results in few days or a month are just a fad.Real results start to be shown slowly.....(Read SLOWLY..Yesss)  after 3 months of regular workout atleast.
  7. Have realistic expectations, and you are on your way to a better health, actually a New  beautiful YOU
I am sure many bloggers reading my blogs, can relate to the idea, that having a good body is the best outfit one can ever possess, when you look good naked..even a rag is gonna look good on you. Work hard and look best.Life is short and working out is an investment that gives returns in abundance, and it's free....Bring it on lovely people. :)

Anarkali for dress - Reinventing ethnics

Been a very busy week for me, had loads of work for my little son's school, I never knew of crafting, creating and creating so much for school during my childhood, but nowadays...Damn!!! It's like a never ending crafting work for parents, rather than the kids. Though it's fun,and i love crafting, sometimes, the things they ask for gets you worried for the availability of it......
For example:-there is still one undone project- "Taking care of a newborn/sibling"
Now pray tell me, how do people with a single kid/having friends who don't have babies,or any neighbour with infants manage to click pictures of their kids taking care. I kinda feel frustrated and question the very topics, which have been imbibed for studies( Atleast an alternative would have sufficed...PHEW!!! )

Well , now back to my stuff, as for my workouts, it's been pretty steady except for my dwindling weight. BLAME it .... BLAME ITTTT on the Festival .... yup...how can one still diet during festive occasions, even eating in potions seem to put pounds...for my body...so that means....I gotta workout harder. So past 2 weeks around Diwali,has been a big bummer for me...regards to my weight loss journey. But I still manage to keep the range in and around 2 pounds.While my hubby gleefully gobbled a couple of sweets and stuff...and he managed to reduce ( waaah!!!!) and my son...hardly ever puts on weight.These two guys have a high MBR.....Do I even have one..i wonder...coz I am always cold to touch... {grimace}

There goes my ranting on workouts, but summarizing it all, I am just doing fine, and as the wise beings say....I never wanna give up, and I just keep pushing,just keep pushing {Finding NEMO - Dori Style ;-P}

For the outfit I used my Floor length tri colour Anarkali. Floor length ones have an added advantage of being worn as a Maxi Dress. And here I tried just the same. I used the string that's to be tied at the back of the neck, as a knot towards the front of my neck. How cool is that !!!! No accessories required for the neck.
I have done this in college days ...and I might upload it..as i find it.. And added 2 belts to give it a dress look just beneath the bust,a bracelet,an anklet and just a pink/purple toned lipstick and kajal...VOILA....it's simple yet , elegant.
